Electroencephalogram (EEG)

EEG available in Houston and Dallas

An electroencephalogram (EEG) is a non-invasive test that detects electrical activity in your brain using small electrodes applied to your scalp. The brain cells communicate via electrical impulses and are active all the time. This activity shows up as wavy lines on an EEG recording. The brainwave observations can diagnose a variety of conditions, from seizures to epilepsy.

We perform routine and ambulatory EEGs to help us better detect a variety of brain-associated disorders and conditions. Routine EEGs usually only last up to a maximum of 60 minutes, which can be insufficient for detecting certain conditions. Ambulatory EEGs are longer-term measurements of your brain that can last up to 3 or 4 days and can be done at home with 24-hour live monitoring. The tests are intermittently monitored by our Board-Certified neurologist. The reports are also interpreted by a neurologist.

Texas Brain Institute is in conjunction with LifeSciences Imaging Partners to perform various diagnostic testing including Electroencephalogram (EEG).
